WA Reflections Lunchtime Film Festival
ABOUT THE EVENT
WA Reflections is a short documentary series that highlights treasures from the State Library’s heritage collection through
the work of emerging WA filmmakers. Produced in partnership with Screenwest, this year’s mini documentaries tell the stories
of Australia’s first guide dog and her West Australian owner Dr Arnold Cook; the uncanny ‘rock masses’ held at St George’s Cathedral
in the 1970s; the extraordinary life of 1920s male impersonator Effie Fellows; and the fascinating history of the Perth Observatory.
Join us for this short, snappy, lunchtime screening of all four films.
In partnership with Boorloo Heritage Festival, Screenwest and Lotterywest.
Films:
Love, Rock En Masse: A documentary that explores the groundbreaking collision of rock music and religion in 1970s Perth through the

The Road Ahead: A heartwarming story of the life and legacy of disability pioneer, Dr Arnold Cook, his guide dog Dreena and the guide dog movement.

I’ve Never Seen a Straight Banana: A bold journey of self-discovery where an emerging performer sets out to honour the legacy of acclaimed vaudeville

A Search Beyond the Stars: A history of WA’s space exploration and its significant achievements along the way.
